WHAT IS MERIDIAN STROKING?

Meridians are energy lines that run throughout the body  in definite pathways.

There are meridians that run on the surface of the body and those that run within, but the 12 main meridians, that we will be concerned with in meridian stroking, all run on the surface of the body.

These are the meridians that acupuncturists use when treating illness or energy blockage. The various meridians relate to various organs of the body

In meridian stroking we learn to stroke the meridians with our hands, in the correct way in order to enhance energy flow around the body and help to maintain optimum health.

Meridian , or energy pathways, stroking is an ancient Chinese system, that has been used for thousands of years in China.

The Chinese believed that if your energy flow was blocked, you developed an illness in the area of the blockage, if energy flow stopped temporarily, you were unconscious, and if energy flow ceases altogether, you died.

Therefore it is necessary to maintain a continual and even flow of energy to keep the body healthy.

This is what meridian stroking is all about.
Another ancient Chinese art that uses meridian stroking , is Tai Chi, where the meridians are strokes as part of the gentle, flowing movements.
