Reiki for Animals
Animals generally love Reiki. It's important to approach them slowly at first as
Reiki feels a little strange to them when they receive it the first time. Our
animals are very connected to us, so much so that they feel our stresses and
pain. As such they will do whatever they can do to take that pain or stress away
from us. It is not uncommon to find pets and their owners on the same
medications, in fact! So, give them the gist of relaxation and healing that they
deserve. It goes without saying that Reiki will benefit us, as well as our pets.
The primary difference between us and our pets is that we humans have belief
systems to get beyond. Our pets live in the moment, here and now and simply want
to heal. There are no preconceived notions to get over. They understand healing
energy and its benefits immediately and once they have received Reiki, they will
actually come looking to you for it.
I will employ a variety of Reiki and other
energy healing techniques designed specifically for your animal based on their
needs, including PRISMology of Light healing which has techniques and symbols
specifically developed for use with out four-legged friends.
How long does the Session take and what is involved?
A full Reiki session on a pet takes between 10 and 30 minutes depending on the animal. There really is no right or wrong way to give Reiki to an animal and they will normally walk away when they have had enough. Sometimes they may only need a short break and will come right back for additional healing.
I will do all sessions in your home since most animals are not comfortable being moved and it makes them nervous to be in a strange place. If however your animal is one that likes to travel other arrangements can be made.
What are the effects of Reiki on our 4-legged friends?
Reiki can easily be given to pets, either by hands-on or distance methods. Animals who love to be petted will probably love hands-on Reiki. Even pets that you don't handle can receive Reiki. When we had fish, I would put my hands-on their tank to give Reiki.
Other animals, such as birds, can benefit from distance Reiki. You can even use the distance method to give Reiki to animals in the wild or groups of domesticated animals.
Most sick animals will instinctively come to you for healing because they sense you can benefit them. When treating animals, remember not to excite it by forcing it to accept a particular hand position.
Instead, allow the animal to become comfortable and work around it,
or ease it gently into a position where your hands can reach the areas needing treatment.
In emergency situations, calm the animal first by using a reassuring voice
combined with gentle stroking over the head. Covering the head helps to calm.
Animals tend to respond faster to Reiki than humans. They generally have a more dynamic energy system and their powers of recuperation tend to be superior. They also have less accumulated stress, emotional blockages and self-sabotage tendencies. It also appears that the more domesticated the animal, the slower it's recovery time. Domestic animals tend to take on the stress and emotional traits of their owners. Those of us who have pets are all too aware of how much they can be a reflection of their owners.
Plants also respond to Reiki because they are
also living energy fields that can be out of balance and will respond to the
harmonizing effects of Reiki.
By the fact that Reiki works on animals and plants we are able to discount any
suggestion that the effects of Reiki are psychosomatic.
